In Due Time Doula Care ~Jenn Beiswenger, Doula
About Doula Jenn B
Hi!
I’m Jenn. I’m a Christian birth & postpartum doula. 😊
I’m passionate about pregnancy, childbirth and child-rearing. My mission is to empower expectant moms to have the childbirth experience they want, to support new moms through matrescence and to help families navigate the first precious months of bub’s life outside the womb.
I will do what I can to help mom own the process of bringing her child into this world, to parent her child with integrity and compassion, and to have as positive an experience as possible. Please know that my Christianity does not preclude working with non-Christian moms. My faith plays into how I operate in my day-to-day life – you can read my blog post On Being a Christian Doula for some insight on that; drop me a line to see whether we might be a good fit! 💜
I had a great birth, thanks to God! 🙏🏻 He helped me through the process itself, and beforehand, helping me to achieve the education I had & the planning I did ahead of time. I want to help YOU have a great birth, too!
My Birth Philosophy
I believe that God designed women to give birth. This doesn't mean that it will necessarily be easy, nor that it will go off without a hitch, however it does mean that the vast majority of women can give birth without medical intervention -- and the vast majority do better without it!
I believe that birth is a special, natural, physiological event, not unlike love-making: the conditions which are conducive to sex are also conducive to childbirth ~ a woman needs to feel comfortable in her surroundings and trust that the people supporting her believe in her and are on her side.
I believe that birth has a tremendous impact on the woman and on her child(ren) being born, which will affect them for the rest of their lives. It is not to be taken lightly, a woman's wishes are not to be eschewed, she ought to be in freedom to choose where she births, with whom she births and what interventions - if any at all - she wants for her labour & birth, when she wants them, with fully informed consent and no coercion whatsoever.
I believe that my role as a doula is to provide inquisitive women - and those husbands who are interested to know - with evidence-based information about labour, birth and the postpartum period, to support her to visualise the kind of birth she wants and to help her achieve it, to the best of my ability.
I have experience with Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) & In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) ♥ home and hospital, water and land, vaginal and caesarean birth ♥ and lots of practice supporting mums & bubs through the trials & joys of early infancy. I’m also available to be a homebirth doula for older siblings, to be their dedicated buddy throughout the labour & birth.
Babies have been my passion since I was a little girl. First it was baby dolls, then looking after other people’s babies; next I volunteered with teenaged moms and subsequently did an internship with a home & birth centre midwife; eventually I was (am!) blessed with the the opportunity to mother my own child, then subsequently mothered new moms…. which brings us to the present day, when I support women through the process of matrescence: becoming a mom, joyfully and confidently. I loved being pregnant, bringing my eagerly-awaited son into this world and caring for him, and I love supporting childbearing women to have their dreams come true, too.
I’ve been a wife (to the same guy!🥰) since 1999 and a mother to one since 2006; I’m a daughter, sister, aunt and niece, teacher, artist and friend. Besides all things birth, I love books, puzzles, spirituality, thrift shopping, baking & medical TV shows, Zentangle, emojis 😜 and healthy living. Born & raised in Canada, college-educated & married in the US, I lived in Sydney, Australia for nearly 13 years and am now located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, eager to support you in your childbearing process!💗
