In Due Time Doula Care ~Jenn Beiswenger, Doula

Priceless Doula Support Packages

How much is a good birth worth to you?
💜  How do you put a price on continuity of care, unfailing support, confidence, empowerment, peace of mind?  💜
How does the prospect of a restful, supported postpartum period sit with you?

“If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical NOT to use it.”

-Dr John Kennell, doctor of pediatrics and researcher known for his work in maternal bonding during childbirth and the support of doulas-

Pregnancy & Birth Support

This package starts with 2-3 visits before baby comes, discussing your ideas around birth; think of it as ‘birth brainstorming support’ — sharing labouring & birthing wisdom, discussing non-pharmaceutical pain management alternatives, helping you work through your preferences for birth and mentally preparing you for bub’s arrival. We’ll talk about the value of intentional birth planning, looking at such topics as:

  • the physiology of birth (a brief overview)

  • the differences between care provider & birth location types

  • induction and what it can mean for your labour

  • coping with pain

  • practical tools for labour & birth

  • postpartum placenta options

  • preparing your mind & body for labour

You’ll receive materials and information which we can accommodate to vaginal or caesarean, hospital, birth centre & homebirth wishes.

We’ll be in close touch throughout your pregnancy, then I’ll be on call for your labour from 38 weeks (37 weeks for multiples) and give you & your partner my full, in-person support during your labour & birth. I’ll visit with you once more after baby’s born, to check in, help you process your birth experience, answer questions and help you with any baby or other support needs.

Investment: $1400 *$1200CAD introductory rate plus an additional 10% discount for homebirths

VBAC special: Vaginal birth has SO many benefits! If your previous birth was by caesarean section and you’re keen to have a vaginal next birth, I’m  happy to offer you an additional 15% discount on the pregnancy & birth support package that means $1400 $1200 *$1020CAD  plus an additional 10% discount for homebirths

Multiples special: Are you carrying more than one baby and keen to birth them vaginally? I have yet to support a mom birth twins or more, but I would sure love to! I’m happy to offer you a 15% discount on the pregnancy & birth support package that means $1400 $1200 *$1020CAD plus an additional 10% discount for homebirths

Breech special: Some babies stay bum-down despite everything moms try to turn them. Breech vaginal birth doesn’t need to be feared: it’s a variation of normal, and with the support of an experienced care provider it can go smoothly! I have yet to support a mom birthing her breech baby vaginally, but I would sure love to. If you’re carrying a breech baby, are keen to birth him/her vaginally and have a trained care provider supporting you in this, I’m happy to offer you a 15% discount on the pregnancy & birth support package that means $1400 $1200 *$1020CAD plus an additional 10% discount for homebirths

Pregnancy & Primary Birth Support

If you’re going this alone, this is the birth support package for you. The pregnancy support is identical to that offered in the regular ‘Pregnancy & Birth Support‘ package; the difference lies in the labour & birth support portion. Women with partners often find comfort in having them around for physical & emotional support from relatively early on in labour; lif a woman doesn’t have a partner or close friend who will show up for her during that time, this is where the doula comes in. The on-cal period is the same in both packages, but as primary support-person I will come to you sooner than if you’ve already got someone there with you. (Everything else in the package is the same, the only difference is the amount of time I will spend with you.)

Investment: $1675 *1400CAD introductory rate plus an additional 10% discount for homebirths

Birth Basics Support

Crafted with primiparous & mutiparous women in mind (women who’ve given birth before, i.e. not first-time moms), this package, at its core, is designed to offer labour & birth support only, doing away with prenatal and postpartum visits. If you’ve had some prenatal education before, whether you gave birth vaginally and know pretty well what’s going on or had an ’emergency’ caesarean birth(s) – with prenatal education because you had wanted a vaginal birth – and were intending to have a repeat caesarean with your second and now have changed your mind at the last minute and want to try for a vaginal birth, this package can work for you.

The most basic, bare-bones package consists solely of the all-important labour & birth support, that’s it. Optional add-ons include a casual ‘recon’ prenatal visit, a low-key closure postpartum visit or a longer, more practically helpful (with baby, around the house, etc) postpartum visit.

Bare-bones, labour-support-only package ~ Investment: $840 *$720CAD introductory rate

+ casual get-to-know-each-other prenatal visit ~ Investment: + $70CAD *+ $60CAD

+ closure postpartum visit ~ Investment: + $70CAD *+ $60CAD

+ proper postpartum visit ~ Investment: + $140CAD *+ $120CAD

→ plus an additional 10% discount, on any configuration, for homebirths

This package is NOT intended for first-time moms or women who previously had planned caesarean(s) without any prenatal education beforehand. It is ideal to learn lots about labour & birth so that you can know what kind of birth you want to shoot for, and how to best go about it! Plus, ample opportunities to really get to know & get comfortable with your chosen doula before going into labour is an important piece of the puzzle. That’s what the Pregnancy & Birth Support package is for.

….That being said, continuous support during labour & birth only has still shown to be incredibly valuable, so if you’re a first-time mom or you were expecting to have a repeat planned caesarean and you’ve suddenly found yourself up a creek, staring down the barrel of labour without adequate support,….. drop me a line, let’s see if we can figure something out. ♥

Birth Brainstorming Support

This birth brainstorming package consists of one 3-hour pre-birth planning visit to talk about your options and preferences for birth. [See details under ‘Pregnancy & Birth Support‘ package, above.]

Homebirth Sibling Birth Support

If you have older child(ren) whom you’d like present at your homebirth, I can be their dedicated buddy, someone who is knowledgeable about birth and about young children, who is invested in their well-being, helping to prepare them and dedicating my attention to them amidst the flurry of activity around labour & birth. This package consists of 2 visits before baby comes, to get to know each other and learn what to anticipate (with age-appropriate information), I’ll be on call for your labour from 38 weeks (37 weeks for multiples) and provide full support to the sibling(s) throughout labour & birth, then we’ll meet once more after little sister/brother arrives to catch up on how things are going.

Investment: $750 *$640CAD introductory rate

Postpartum Daytime Support

The goal of postpartum support is to help you adjust to motherhood. I can help with soothing your baby, breast- or bottle-feeding, bathing, swaddling, baby-wearing, infant massage, I can help around the house with light chores (laundry, dishes, e.g.) or light food preparation, I can mind baby so that you can look after yourself, if you’ve got other kids I can mind them while you spend time with bub, I can be a sounding board, give you a shoulder/foot/hand massage, accompany you to appointments or running errands,…. I can be an extra pair of hands or a shoulder, just about wherever & however you need it.

Investment: $45/hr *$40CAD/hr introductory rate with a 3-hour minimum per visit plus an additional 10% discount for birth clients

Popular packages include:

Premium =  24 hours of daytime support spread across up to 6 weeks = $1050 *$960CAD

Classic = 15 hours of daytime support spread across up to 4 weeks = $665 *$600CAD

Light = 9 hours of daytime support spread across up to 3 weeks = $405 *$360CAD

Trial = 3 hours of daytime support in one go, to see if we’re a good match = $135 *$115CAD

→ Additional daytime hours can be tacked on for $45/hr *$40CAD/hr

Postpartum Overnight Support

This service is for families struggling to get decent sleep in the early days postpartum. I will come to your home and spend a full, 9-hour night (10pm-7am) with your baby, caring for him or her in-between feeds, so that you & baby can (hopefully!) get solid chunks of sleep. I will wake you to feed when baby needs it, or I can feed baby a bottle of expressed milk or formula myself*, then change diapers & settle afterwards – or however much or little of that you want me to do. [*Just a reminder: this can seriously mess with breastmilk production if mom’s breastfeeding! I don’t encourage it, however sometimes it can be necessary for her sanity.♥]

Investment: $405/night *$360CAD/night introductory rate (for a 9-hour night) plus an additional 10% discount for birth clients

Additional night hours can be tacked on for $45/hr *$40CAD/hr

Note: there are no hidden fees! WYSIWYG: what you see is what you get, all taxes are included in the prices listed. (Such is not the case with most other doulas’ advertised prices!)

Gift Vouchers

Is someone you love pregnant?

Doula support is a unique and super-helpful baby shower gift! Contributing money to an expectant mother’s doula fund, whether for birth or postpartum support (or both!), is a blessing; leaving her in freedom to choose the doula(s) she jives with best is what’s MOST useful to her. 💗 As much as I want you to choose me to support her, the decision really ought to be hers to make. 😏

….That being said, a refund will be available if you gift her my services and she doesn’t choose me after our initial meet-and-greet. Easy peasy!

I’d be thrilled to discuss this further. Drop me a line to chat about vouchers!
